DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES TO BE TESTED ON COGNITIVE SKILLS, VERBAL REASONING

Candidates for Direct Entry will begin taking the aptitude test in 2024, according to a statement released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). This was emphasized by the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, during a virtual meeting on Monday, December 4, 2023, with the Commissioners of Education from the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory. To evaluate each Direct Entry candidate's academic potential, professional fit, and mental and physical capabilities, he stated that starting in 2024, JAMB would administer aptitude tests. He made it clear that the exam would not include the typical disciplines like math, chemistry, government, physics, etc., but rather an intelligence test designed to assess the candidate's current cognitive abilities. Verbal, abstract, mechanical, and numerical reasoning, data checking, and work sampling were the components of the aptitude test, according to the registrar. Additionally, the Registrar told the attendees that only JAMB Offices nationally will be able to register candidates for Direct Entry. He declared that all DE candidates must supply the following data at the time of registration: Registration/Matriculation How many students attended the prior school the location of the qualification acquisition; Qualification subject(s), awarding institution, actual attended institution, graduation year, and, if required, entrance letters. To help the Board clean up the A'level admissions scene in the nation, the registrar provided a list of twelve acceptable certificates and/or qualifications for registration requirements.
